Channels Television presenter, Seun Okinbaloye, has commented on the N5million fine sanction on the TV station by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

The broadcasting regulatory body had last week slammed Channels the fine, following a petition from the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over Okinbaloye’s interview with the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour party, Datti Baba-Ahmed, on March 22.

Tinubu stated that Datti’s comments during the interview was incendiary and propagated to incite the masses against his inauguration on May 29.

The president-elect noted that Okinbaloye failed to act professionally by stopping the politician from making such comments.

The NBC in response to the petition, then slammed a N5 million fine on the TV station.

In what appears to be a reaction to the fine, Seun while closing his political program on Sunday night, April 2, said that as a media industry in Nigeria, challenges they encountered in the past days, although have created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty, won’t affect the freedom of speech for the media.

Seun assured that despite the challenges, they would continue to inform, educate and entertain their audience as it is the hallmark of their profession, and will always speak the truth, stating that their voices won’t be silenced because Nigeria belongs to us all.
