Says INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, Lacks Capacity

Former Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi this evening on Arise News condemned the elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Amaechi said he was one of the people that was against the appointment of Mahmood Yakubu for lacking capacity to do the job. He said against his objections, the Bola Tinubu Camp insisted on the appointment of Yakubu.

Amaechi said the elections conducted by INEC were not credible.

INEC (Rivers State) on The Payroll of Wike?

He also said emphatically that the Rivers State Resident Electoral Commissioner and his staff were on the payroll of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Amaechi also pointed fingers at the police in Rivers State as compromised by the Governor. He cited illegal arrest orders given by the Governor which were promptly carried out by the police against political opponents of the Governor.

In his words: ” I have been a Governor, no Governor has the right to order the arrest of anybody. Is he the Police?

Amaechi also came down hard on the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government at the center. He said all the atrocities happening in Rivers State can occur because the President has refused to act.

He wondered why the President cannot call the Inspector General of Police to find out what exactly is happening in Rivers State.

This was a particularly damning interview, as Amaechi is considered one of the core pillars that brought President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC to power.

The allegations he made reference to would now add more evidence to the cries of the opposition who who have maintained that the presidential elections of February 25th were rigged in favor of the APC candidate, Bola Tinubu by the man he influenced his appointment, the INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu.
