Chelsea had another afternoon to forget at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

They were soundly beaten by Brighton 1-2 in one of the poorest games by Chelsea this season.

Things are certainly not looking good for Chelsea at the moment.

There are now loud creeping doubts about the decision to appoint Frank Lampard as the interim manager till the end of the season. At this rate Chelsea would soon be dragged into the relegation fight.

It was a very poor show and the tactics from Lampard was way off. Chelsea had no pattern and the substitutions made in the second half was off the mark.

Chelsea were outplayed and out hustled by Brighton.

Chelsea opened scoring in the first half when a strike by Connor Gallagher was pushed into the Brighton goal from a deflection. But Brighton quickly got their acts together and equalized through a header from Danny Welbeck in the 42nd minute.
Enciso made it 1-2 for Brighton in the 69th minute.

Trevor Chalobah showed his match rustiness as he was given the run around by Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma. Only the introduction of Recce James and switching of positions spared Chalobah the embarrassment of always being behind Mitoma.

This was certainly not the best line-up Chelsea could present. The tactis were completely off and left the fans frustrated.
There were reports of fans shouting down on owner Todd Boehly, to vent their frustrations at the results which have been totally under-par.

Chelsea can do better. This is certainly not the Chelsea that won the Champions League two seasons ago.

It is now three defeats in a row for Frank Lampard. Any hopes of a revival under his temporary handling of the team seems to have evaporated.

Next up, Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League Quarter Finals.
