There was no bounce for the appointment of Frank Lampard as the Chelsea care taker manager on Saturday at Molineux.

Chelsea lost by a goal to Wolves who are battling relegation.

Wolves were excellent and intelligently countered all of Chelsea and Lampard’s strategy.

Lampard was forced to substitute the entire frontline of Chelsea – Harvetz, Sterling and Joao Felix after 68 minutes in a sign of their unproductive contribution to the Chelsea attack. This still did not produce the desired results.

The sacking of Graham Potter and appointment of Frank Lampard as care taker manager till the end of the season does not seem to have worked any wonders. Chelsea are still misfiring and letting in goals.

A 31st minute strike by Matheus Nunes rattled the Chelsea goal net whith goal kepper Kepa Arrizabalaga not having any chance of saving it.

This expensively assembled Chelsea team are definitely in trouble.

More trouble comes in a few days time when Chelsea take on reigning European Champions, Real Madrid in the Champions League Quarter Finals.

With this Chelsea team unable to find its shooting boots and letting in goals at the back, the game against Real Madrid looks very much like an uphill task.

In other games, Manchester United made a strong claim for a top 4 finish, with a decisive 2-0 defeat of Everton. Goals from Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial, secured the precious victory for Manchester United.
