Chelsea, once again, failed to rise up to the occasion in a crucial game.

In the English Premier League, they are having a terrible season and now in the Champions League, it seems like the end of the road for the former champions.

On Wednesday night in Madrid, the first leg of the quarter finals of the Champions League, Chelsea lost 2-0, to the current champions, Real Madrid

Goals from Karim Benzema in the 21st minute and Marco Asensio in the 74th minute settled the tie.

Chelsea had to play 10 men as Ben Chillwell was handed a red card in the 59th minute.

Vinicius Jr, had a field day going against the Chelsea backline. Chelsea just could not stop the Brazilian from the wings.

Chelsea just cannot catch a break this season. Despite the expensively assembled team, nothing seems to be going well for the Londoners.

Frank Lampard has an uphill task in the second leg at Stamford Bridge. Two goals downa against the current champions is not an easy task to overturn.

In related news, AC Milan beat Napoli 1-0 at the San Siro in Milan. Ismail Bennacer scored the only goal in the 40th minute.
Napoli was without the injured Victor Osimhen and this seemed to affect their play, especially in the first half. Napoli also suffered with the loss of Zambo Anguissa, who was given a red card in the second half for a tackle on Theo Hernandez.
