 Super Falcons grab Olympics ticket; play goalless draw against South Africa

Super Falcons of Nigeria have qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics Female Football event.

The team qualified courtesy of a 0-0 draw against the South African women’s National Team today in Pretoria, South Africa.

The team, on played a 0-0 draw against the South African women’s football team on Tuesday, to qualify on a 0-1 aggregate after winning the first leg 1-0 played in Abuja on April 5th, 2025.

The Super Falcons last played in the Olympics in 2008 during the Beijing Olympic Games.

The match was hard fought with a lot of defensive work done by the Super Falcons. Goalkeeper Nnadozie made so many saves to ensure the qualification ticket was secured.

Striker Uchenna Kanu was guilty of missing two clear cut chances just as she did during the first leg. She was immediately substituted at half time with Rinsola Babajide.

It was not the best of performances from the most decorated African Women’s Team but the qualification was secured.
