Its celebration time at German Bundesliga side, Bayer Leverkusen as the club lifted the league trophy in a record-breaking run.

Bayer Leverkusen had never won the title in their 120 years history but all that changed with their fresh team led by young manager Xabi Alonso and powered with goals from Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface.

The team broke the dominance of Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich and led their rivals with as many as 16 points before Sunday’s game against Werder Bremen. This shift ended Bayern’s unbroken 11-year dominance of the league title.

Predictably, Bayer Leverkusen thrashed Werder Bremen by 5-0 to confirm their dominance and clinch the title. Victor Boniface opened scores with a penalty he calmly slotted in the net.

At the end of the game with scores at 5-0, the referee quickly ended the game which led to fans storming the pitch in celebrations.

This is a record run for Bayer Leverkusen as they went through the entire season unbeaten.

Manager Xabi Alonso said it was a very special moment for the club to win the title after 120 years.

‘After 120 years, to win the Bundesliga for the first time is something extraordinary. The players really performed; they were a top team together. I am so proud of all of them”
