The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have announced that “run away” Senator, Peter Nwaoboshi has been arrested and put in prison to start his seven year sentence.
Nwaoboshi was apprehended by the EFCC on February 6 at a Lagos Hospital and was remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Center on February 8th.
Nwaoboshi who represents Delta North was arraigned in court in 2018 with his two companies, Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd and Suiming Electrical Ltd for laundering N322million in 2014.
The two count charge against the defendants was dismissed by the trial Judge, Chukwujekwu Aneke in 2018. The EFCC filed an appeal which resulted in the seven year jail term for the senator in July 2022.
Since then the Delta North Senator had made himself available to begin the sentence but filed an appeal at the Supreme Court to grant him bail pending the determination of his appeal.
