Recall that last weekend, a video trended on social media showing how Afro beat singer and the youngest son of the legendary late Fela Kuti, Seun kuti, was assaulting a police officer over a minor accident on the Third mainland bridge, Lagos state.

Seun is still in Police custody awaiting prosecution by the Nigerian Police command.

Over the years, many Nigerians have been complaining about police brutality and assault around the country. This was one of the major reasons for the disastrous 2020 ‘EndSars’ protest.

Reports of the police killing innocent citizens either by mistake or even intentionally have been in the news for many years now. The uniformed men have been videoed several times, slapping, beating, assaulting and extorting innocent citizens.

Just last month, a police officer was recorded slapping a motorist whom he stopped for a search somewhere in Rivers state.

From the look of things, there has been a turn of events as Nigerians seem to be protecting themselves and in the cause of doing this, end up assaulting police officers which is against the law. This is the second assault case on a Police officer this month.
