Nigeria Repays Guinea-Bissau; Win 0-1 in Bissau

Super Eagles -1

The Super Eagles of Nigeria this evening in Bissau, redeemed themselves and turned the tables on the Guinea-Bissau National Team with 0-1 second leg win in Bissau. This was the second leg of the group qualifications stages for the African Nations Cup (AFCON).

The Eagles had lost the first leg 0-1 in Abuja, Nigeria.

The only goal came through a penalty in the 30th minute of the first half. It came the efforts of right full back, Bright Samuel, who made a run in and dribble in the penalty box of the host team before he was felled for the penalty.
Moses Simon of Nigeria calmly slotted the ball in the net to open scores in favor of the Super Eagles.

Nigeria dominated play and almost scored again in the second half through Napoli hit-man, Victor Osimhen whose driving effort hit the goal post after completely beating the Guinea-Bissau goalkeeper.

This win was badly needed and would release the massive pressure on Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro. This was the first win for the Portuguese coach who had led the team to three consecutive losses.

Nigeria now top the group and will await the next round of games to be sure of qualification for the AFCON.
