Arise TV Morning Show anchor, Reuben Abati has been trending for days on social media for his views on the on the alleged certificate forgery controversy concerning President Bola Tinubu.
Abati who always some how seems to make light of the serious issue of certificate forgery by using legal terms which tends to downplay the of the matter, has been revealed to be an ally of President Bola Tinubu.
This revelation was made today on the Morning Show by Senator Smart Adeyemi, an ex Senator from Kogi West Constituency and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Adeyemi dropped the snide comment casually, while complaining that Abati had been hard on the APC following the presidential elections of 2023.
Adeyemi is quoted as saying on the show:
“You know you and I; we are Asiwaju’s boys, Reuben Abati, come back home”.
Those words while casually spoken has opened up a pandoras box about the divergent views of Reuben Abati, concerning the matter which is subject of a lawsuit in Chicago, United States.
Recall that Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had gone to court in Chicago to compel the Chicago State University (CSU) to reveal the academic records of President Bola Tinubu.

Abati had drawn flak from supporters of the opposition parties when he argued that the lawsuit and any revelations from it would only be an academic exercise.
This is despite the serious discoveries which confirmed the submission of an apparently inconsistent diploma/degree from the Chicago State University (CSU) to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by then candidate, Bola Tinubu.
CSU in the deposition had said the degree paraded by Tinubu was not issued by the institution. The lawsuit had also revealed so many discrepancies about the academic claims made by President Bola Tinubu. In one of the documents released by CSU, President Bola Tinubu claimed to have graduated from Government College Lagos in 1970. However, checks revealed Government College Lagos was not in existence in 1970. The school only began operations in 1974.
These are very serious matters, especially when an official of CSU made a snide comment about how “it is a Nigerian thing to forge documents”.
Reuben Abati in issuing his views about the discrepancies, had tried to steer public opinion away from the egregious and serious matters bothering on criminality to how legally, the facts would not matter in the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Many had wondered why Abati was taking the unpopular position even when the facts on ground pointed to a serious breach of the Nigerian Electoral Act.
The revelation by Senator Smart Adeyemi has now provided enough reasons for the skewed views of Reuben Abati about the certificate forgery and related issues on the presidential elections.
