Nigeria and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen  gave an indication of his goal  scoring ambitions for the new Serie A season by scoring twice against newly promoted Frosinone in the Italian Serie A.

Napoli had brought in a new coach Rudy Garcia to replace the title winning coach, Luciano Spalleti, who asked to leave for a year.  In recognition of his title winning ways, Spalleti has just been announced as the new coach of the Italian National Team.

Thankfully, Garcia still had the bulk of the title winning team and Victor Osimhen to provide the fire power to defend the league title. And they did an excellent job   today at Frosinone.

Victor Osimhen had been the subject of many football transfer stories all summer, and keeping him at Napoli was looking like a herculean job.

Napoli, successfully held on to their prized striker, and today’s performance proved just why they wanted him to stay on in Naples.

Osimhen, who won the golden boot last season in Serie A enroute to Napoli winning the league title.

The newly promoted Frosinone opened scoring in the 7th minute of the first half with a penalty by Abdou Harroui, who beat the Napoli goalkeeper.

Napoli hit back in the 24th minute  through a well placed hit by  Matteo Politano.

Frosinone got a taste of what it is to face the current champions and in particular, Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen got in the action in the 34th minute with a thunderous shot off a pass by Giovanni Di Lorenzo. This put Napoli in the lead 1-2.

Osimhen finished off the game in the second half with a well hit placing which beat the Frosinone goalkeeper to make it 1-3.

Napoli have started the season very well and if their scoring boots keep firing this season, they just might be ready to defend their hard won title.
